The Pier is an extension of the axis suggested by the World War Memorial and the Statue of Liberty on the horizon.
While fragmented, the expression of the tower reflects the conventional pier structure. It consists of pillars rising high from the water. Using the same language both pier and the building unite the wharf in its expression.
Dealing with the vertical building, the Raumplan becomes our space organizing tool. By sculpting the space in all three directions we hope to enhance the emotional experience of the visitors as well as offer them new perspectives on the city and water.
